Depend on Me

The return of Babelfish during the Norweigan Melodi Grand Prix competition was an breathtaking event.

The first time around the song just seamed to be perfect, and then it got only better the more it was played. The well composed and well performed popsong gave the simple but strong lyrics the justice it deserved. The Norwegian audience clearly did not understand what they were voting away. The net result was that Babelfish did not represent Norway in the European Song Contest and the competition went down the drains for Norway in 2011.

However, Babelfish got a lot of attention. They might also just have felt the fun of making good music again, so they presented a best-of album in 2011. This album also included new tracks of which Depend on Me was one. Strong record.

Depend on Me lyrics. 2011. Babelfish

Sleep baby Sleep
rest your head on my shoulder
I feel complete
I don’t mind getting older
Son I’ll be here until my time is over
till the end you can depend on me

Life can be hard and the world may deceive you
There might be times when you think no one needs you
Son follow love go wherever it leads you
Till the end you can depend on me

I’ll be your rock I ‘ll have you back
If you go off a beating track
I can’t say how your life will be
but there’s one thing I guarantee
You can depend on me

Sleep baby sleep
Stars are shining above you
I feel complete as I whisper I love you
Son I’ll be there I will take good care of you
Till the end you can depend on me

I’ll be your rock I’ll have you back
If you go off a beating track
I can’t say how your life will be
but there’s one thing I guarantee
You can depend on me

I’ll be your rock I ‘ll have you back
If you go off a beating track
I can’t say how your life will be
but there’s one thing I guarantee
You can depend on me
You can depend on me

The song is dedicated to the children (sons) of the members of Babelfish, and gives the normal decent but still admirable statements. This is not Shakespeare but it is solid pop lyrics.
